New Books

I just started reading two new books. I felt as if I just wanted to change the pace of literature. I picked up a book titled The Lawless Decade and another titled The Rogue Warrior. They both seemed to catch my attention for one reason or another so I thought I’d try them both. The Lawless Decade is about the 1920′s. It is a book combined of a lot of so called short stories. I am not sure you can call them short stories, it is more like loose paper clippings. It highlights events that shaped the era. Just from peeking through the book, it is fascinating to see where people took nicknames, styles, and ways of living from. Once I sit down and give them both my undivided attention, I am sure I will become more enlightened about the decade.

The second book is rather different. It is an autobiography about a man named Richard Marcinko. He founded the Navy’s top secret counterterrorist unit: Seal Team Six. I do not yet know of any details but I believe the man was rather controversial. I believe it was the title that captured my attention. I have no interest in joining any of the armed forces but I respect what they do and reading about what takes place behind the scenes will be cool. In my opinion I believe it’s going to give me real perspective of what takes place in the Navy. I will keep everyone posted on how I feel about both books.

I again want to remind everyone to get their questions in for my Sunday responses early. So far this week, I’ve received somewhere between 20-35 letters and there were some really good questions. If you are new to this site I want to remind everyone of the process. Monday through Friday I will be accepting questions through the mail (US Mail). Sunday I will post my responses to randomly selected questions. Here is my mailing address to those who may’ve missed it last week:

I read the rogue warrior back in the early 90′s. Marcinko is one bad mother, that’s for sure.

  2. honestly everything that has happened is upsetting for everyone that is involved. but its not my place to judge any man or woman for their actions. and i also believe that everything happens for a reason and at the end of the day its a test to the will and strength of a man. so hopefully you learn and come out stronger from this. and personally as being a former harding raider myself i do hope to see back on a football field one day cause when you are on, you can be the best. good luck and best wishes

  3. Rogue Warrior is an excellent book.

If you can get your hands on a new book titled “One Second After,” I would strongly recommend this one as well.

  4. A friend linked me to your blog and I am really enjoying what you’re writing here. This is really awful, but I remember seeing you in Target one day and thinking some pretty mean things. And even though I might not have been so far off base at the time, I am pleased and humbled to now stand corrected.

Rogue Warrior is totally interesting. And I’m going to put the other book on my to read list – it sounds fascinating! I love reading about other historical periods.
