Keeping Your Spirit Youthful

I just recently decided to start a new diet routine in hopes of dropping to a new desired weight. I recently tipped the scale at 233 lbs. That is eight pounds heavier than I would like to be. I must admit that making convenient excuses to eat during the holidays has helped the increase. I have to get it all back in order now. I have a new weight goal; my goal is to weigh in at 210 lbs. by April 1st. I know it is possible and it can be done in a healthy way. Here are eight things that I plan on doing:
1. Strength train four days of the week.
2. Cardio for two hours daily and agility training forty-five minutes daily.
3. Core train with a thousand sit-ups daily.
4. Eat no food after 6 p.m. every day.
5. Fast all day on Sundays.
6. No sugar and no flour on Mondays and Tuesdays.
7. Eat only fish, rice, and oatmeal for the first 30 days.
8. Drink water and coffee only.

This routine will get me where I desire to be. This is used more for discipline than for weight loss. I enjoy visualizing a new task to fulfill and attempt applying the appropriate energy to fulfill it. I learn more about my character and willpower every time I begin a new task. We will see how the progress goes. I will keep everyone updated every week.

I just recently started a diet myself, its called Meat, Leaves, and Berries diet. I already cheated twice and I started it on Monday. I think people or myself easily accept defeat by something or a goal especially if you’re the only person being affected by it or know about it. Like a secret failure that no one will know about. For example, that oreo cookie you eat at 1 in the morning. Then you wonder why you’re not getting the results you wanted. I feel this is so true about a lot of things in life, not just about a diet. Thank you for reminding me that if you’re concerned about it or not, your chararter is put to the test in anything you are envolved in. Thank you for the reminder that anything that gains your desire, anything worth visualizing, requires the appropiate energy. Eveverthing you got.
I love you bro, I miss you

What about the fruits and vegetables, and nuts? You probably should go without those things for 30 days. Those are pretty good for you. And don’t forget to stretch! Wish you the best, Maurice.

  3. Make sure you’re using proper form while doing those “sit-ups” ’cause even one back injury is one too many. I’m also trying to shed a few pounds before the pools open but have started by working out only three days a week. Of course, I’ve never been in the kind’ve physical shape you were in 2002. I don’t even wanna guess how many hours you spend in the gym that summer. In fact, whatever that number was…take it an DOUBLE it if you wanna walk onto the Browns this fall.

  4. Maurice,

I’m worried you aren’t going to get enough vitamins on this diet and will find yourself with a weakened immune system when it’s all said and done. Big muscles, lightning-fast speed, and a rock-solid core mean nothing when you get taken down by the flu or a common cold. Fasting all day Sunday can lead to spiritual enlightenment (and weight loss) but as a person who has fasted many times I want to let you know that there is no shame in “cheating” if it means essential nutrients. I don’t wanna sound like your mom, but eat your vegetables brother.

    Keep up the good work,

    Josh

  5. Don’t over do it. I’m sure as an athlete you already know this, but over doing excericising, dieting, or pretty much anything in life can set you back substantially.

On the nutrition and diet side. I know few things about nutrition and have read up a lot on the subject. Sidenote: I’m also going to school to be a reigistered dietitan. One thing is to remember that fat is very important. For someone like you who is working out a lot, I would suggest you get 1/3 of your calories from fat (9 cal/g), 1/3 from protein, and 1/3 from carbs (both 4 cal/g) . Fish is excellant. Another easy way to get good fats comes from nuts, especially walnuts, almonds, and hazelnuts.

    Good luck

    Hey Maurice,

Nice to see you are using your time wise. I wish you all the best and I am still a fan.
